Opportunities to lend a hand to others are abundant in the Bay Area, with options available for a wide range of ages.
If you are not yet a teen, you can consider family-friendly volunteer opportunities. Organizations like Save the Bay welcome the whole family, including toddlers, to participate in programs to restore wetlands. Garden to Table Silicon Valley invites kids of all ages to have fun on their farm. Second Harvest of Silicon Valley offers opportunities to youth who are at least 12 years old to help in their warehouses to sort food or in the community to distribute food.
If you are a teen, reach out to organizations that you visit to ask about volunteer opportunities. For example, the San Francisco Zoo & Gardens operates a teen volunteer program through its Animal Rescue & Conservation Center. Additionally, local libraries often have opportunities to assist with events and community services.
Whether you are volunteering with your family or on your own, there are numerous options to make a meaningful impact on our community.
